DIY Indoors Out Episode to Feature The Light Foundation

Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10 p.m. cable TV’s “Do It Yourself” Network (DIY) will feature The Light Foundation a non-profit organization founded by Matt Light, New England Patriots left tackle and three-time Super Bowl champion. The 400-plus acre facility in Greenville, OH known as Chenoweth Trails held its third annual 10-day outdoor leadership program, Camp Vohokase. It brought together 12 boys from three different communities across the country, Greenville Ohio, where Light was raised, Rhode Island where he holds his annual fundraising event and West Lafayette, Indiana, where Light played at Purdue University.

Cable TV's "Do It Yourself" network (DIY) built a state-of-the-art cooking area and fire pit in the Camp with help from the Connecticut distributor of Viking, an industry leader in high-end kitchen appliances. The total value of the project is nearly $200,000, and Light says he couldn't be more grateful. Light says many local and regional companies also stepped up to help, including: Stone Age Mfg. and Heartland Stone, both out of Oklahoma; Spencer Landscaping and Fourman's Sand and Gravel, both out of Greenville, OH; Cobble Systems out of Orlando, FL; and Dean Marisco and Derek Stearns of Stone by Stearns from his current home state of Massachusetts, who drove the whole project along for DIY. Light enlisted stonemasons and contractors Dean Marsico and Derek Stearns’s help to build the ultimate outdoor kitchen and fire pit area for the camp.

To start, Dean and Derek prep lay a 300 million year-old fossil stone patio and build two state-of-the-art counters with cooking appliances including an outdoor pizza oven. They add fossil stone veneer and one-of-a-kind fossil stone countertops. The fire pit area ineboasts gigantic boulders, a special stone epoxy base area and seating. Amid the two areas are polished stone tables and stone seats.
