Darke County Coroner Dr. T. Kathman reports that the preliminary findings indicate the 10 year old child died as a result of a single gun shot wound to the head.
Darke County Sheriffs Detectives and the Darke County Coroner‘s Office continue to investigate this case with no further information available at this time.

FATAL SHOOTING UNDER INVESTIGATION
Darke County Shcriff’s deputies and detectives are on the scene investigating a fatal shooting in rural northwest Darke County.
On August 4, 2011 at approximately l:13 AM the Darke County Sheriff‘s Office received a 911 call reporting that a 10 year old male child had been shot at 995 Peters Road. Darke County Deputies and Union City, OH Fire and Rescue responded. The 10 year old child was pronounced dead at the scene. Darke County Coroner Dr. Kathman and his investigator were notified and also responded to the scene.
This case is in the early phases of the investigation and no further information will be released at this time. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Another sad story is being reported by WHIOtv.com this morning. The Darke County Sherriff's Department is investigating the death of a 10 year old boy that was apparently caused by a gunshot wound.
