City of Greenville Fire Department Gets New Apparatus

The City of Greenville Fire Department is pleased to announce to the citizens of the City of Greenville the delivery of a new fire apparatus.

The unit is a 2013 Pierce Velocity 100’ Aerial Platform with 2000 gallon per minute fire pump.  The cost of the new apparatus was $955, 209.00 which was financed over 10 years with a 2.94% interest rate through the City of Greenville Capital Improvement Program.

The apparatus replaces a 1984 Pierce/LTI 100’ Aerial Platform.  The 1984 unit was replaced due to age and increasing maintenance costs.

The new unit was built to the latest National Fire Protection Association Standards.  Several of the main improvements in the new unit areadvanced electronics, a four door crew cab with full safety systems including 3 point restraints at all seating positions, air bags, and electronic stability control.  The fire pump capacity is 2000 gallons per minute versus 1500 gallons per minute in the 1984 truck.

The apparatus will be on display at the Rollin’ 50s Car Show, Saturday September 7th from 2:00 pm to approximately 9:00 pm.
